If You Want To Woo Me...

Wednesday, March 7, 2007
Know that while reading Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra, I found this proposal to be wonderful and romantic.

and all alone
To-night we'll wander through the streets and noteThe qualities of people...."

(Yeah, I butchered the meter by taking it out of the longer speech. Look it up. It's act one, scene one.)
Know also, that Antony says this to Cleopatra while he is cheating on his wife, and amidst a lot of emasculating language.
Also, know that both Antony and Cleopatra end up dead.
If you can still make it sound romantic and appealing, go for it.
Though I can't imagine it's a good idea to take cues from my blog which quotes Shakespeare out of context.

Written Pyramids is a blog written by a journalist living and working in Washington D.C.

I have left my real name off of the blog so as not to imply that the blog is somehow linked with the journalism I get paid to do. (Still, I never write about my beat on this blog, and rarely express opinions about the day's news regardless of its relationship to my beat).

I would love to hear from you. If you want to contact me directly rather than leaving a comment here, I can be reached at WrittenPyramids@gmail.com.
